We are evolved from a primate that lived in Africa’s jungles, there is no two ways about it. Our bodies are designed to be omnivorous, and they are designed to deal with the environment it began its journey in, so are our minds. But then add time and outside influences.
Put it like this.
We are born good. You see that little bundle of joy? Its a highly evolved primate (if you find the term ‘monkey’ offensive). As a species its mind is its best weapon. The tigers and lions and other predators would have won long ago if we didn’t have the ability to develop tools, and think. Time will do something to that kid, time, and life.
The older you get you develop certain characteristics like a lizard, or maybe if you’ve managed to stay mammal like a wolf.
The upper class encourages lizard behaviour in its young and the older and richer they get the more reptilian they become. Don’t tell me that a genius level intellect isolated in a bubble of the super rich and their sycophants is human like the majority of evolved monkeys, they’re not at least, not any more.
The wolf, well that’s a pack creature. But the machine that society is dislikes packs, they cause trouble, they back each other up, and that causes problems. What society wants is isolated easily controllable and profitable (to it) lives: witness the lone wolf.
There are probably other animals you relate to, like the American Plains Indians we have kindred spirits in the animal world. It doesn’t make that not real, but it is important to remember we are a human at the end of the day no matter how much Wolf is in us, or Lizard, or…take your pick.
Have you ever been told that you think too much? Lucky you if you have, but don't worry if you haven't, you can still read The Inkling. At The Inkling you can look forward to weekly installments of our serial "The Inklings", weekly solutions to your problems by The Spark, finding out how one lucky person went at our monthly challenge and feature articles every two months
